By most accounts it remains one of the world's best track meets, and certainly the best in the U.S.
Longtime Olympics writer Alan Abrahmson uses this year's Prefontaine Classic as a springboard to write about the state of the sport in this country

I agree with his larger point, the sport needs to expand outside of Eugene to grow beyond niche status.
But here is where we separate. It's not Eugene's fault or TrackTown USA's fault -- Abrahamson dismissively calls them "forest folk" -- that the Prefontaine Classic is the only Diamond League meet in the U.
