Oregon struck first, but Utah struck harder in a low scoring defeat for the Ducks in their Pac-12 Tournament opener. The Utes had 14 hits, but even though they only brought home 4 runs it was enough to best an Oregon team whose offense deserted it and only scored 2 runs themselves.
Brock Moore started on the mound for the Ducks and held Utah scoreless through the first 3 innings. In the top of the third Carter Garate took 1st base on a walk, advanced to second, and was able to get home courtesy of fielding errors by the Utes.
