TUCSON, Ariz. -- The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, yet Oregon once again abandoned any attempt to establish its once-vaunted running game and, once again, lost on the road.
Saturday's Debacle in the Desert, a 44-15 mauling by Arizona, featured just 23 rush attempts for 84 yards by the No. 19 Ducks, which was one fewer than in their loss at Washington State the week prior and though they have 26 more yards than their anemic display on the Palouse. But Oregon's lack of production on the ground this week was even more inexplicable considering it came against an Arizona defense that entered the game ranked 102nd against the run.
