David Peterson named Golden Spikes Award semifinalist

EUGENE -- Junior pitcher David Peterson has been named one of 25 semifinalists for the 40th USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award. The award is given to the top amateur baseball player in the United States and is presented in partnership with the Rod Dedeaux Foundation.

The Ducks' lefty finished the season 11-4 with a 2.51 ERA with a school-record 140 strikeouts in 100.1 innings pitched while walking just 15. He is the only pitcher in the country to rank in the top seven in four statistical categories.
