Women 9th at Nuttycombe Invitational.
Junior Mia Barnett led the Oregon women’s cross-country team to a ninth-place finish at the Nuttycombe Invitational on Friday afternoon, securing 18th place individually. The Ducks rallied during the final third of the 6K race, moving up two spots to break into the top 10.
Barnett, who finished as runner-up at the season-opening Pre’s Trail Run three weeks ago, clocked in at 20:30.7 on the Zimmer Championship Course. She was the first Oregon runner and the fourth Big Ten competitor to cross the finish line. Wilma Nielsen, a newcomer, and Anika Thompson were the second and third Oregon finishers, placing 35th and 62nd, respectively.
