Colt Lyerla escapes county custody; warrant issued for arrest, officials say

Former Oregon Duck tight end Colt Lyerla has escaped from Washington County custody and a warrant has been issued for his arrest, officials said Friday morning.

Lyerla had been at the Washington County Community Correction Center serving out a 6-month sentence related to drug possession, county spokesman Philip Bransford said. At 4:55 p.m. Thursday, officials heard an alarm from dorm three.

County personnel checked found an open window and an escape in progress. All residents were counted except for Lyerla. Steve Berger, director of the Community Corrections Department, said the dorm is on the first floor of the building.
