EUGENE, Ore. – For a second time this season, the Oregon track and field team has garnered national accolades with Tuesday's announcement of Cooper Teare as the USTFCCCA Division I Men's Athlete of the Week.
Teare smashed the collegiate record in the mile, stopping the clock in 3:50.39 at the Tyson Invitational (Feb. 12). He shaved 1.62 seconds off the previous record of 3:52.01 held by former UO standout Edward Cheserek during the 2017 season. With his blazing performance, Teare became the seventh-fastest performer in world history in the indoor mile and split 3:35.
