Chris Steele, 5-star CB, cuts list; Oregon Ducks in mix

It's early in the 2019 recruiting cycle, meaning many of the nation's top prospects are just beginning to hone in on their top contenders.

The Oregon Ducks football program has cast a wide net under Mario Cristobal early, and is hoping it pay dividends with commitments from several elite prospects by the time the dust settles on the December and February signing periods.

One of their top targets is 247Sports five-star cornerback Chris Steele, the nation's No. 3 player at his position.

On Thursday, the 6-foot-1, 188-pound defensive back, out of St. John Bosco High School (Bellflower, California), cut his list from his initial 44 scholarship offers down to 14.
