Cheserek Named Bowerman Finalist

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon junior distance runner Edward Cheserek was named a finalist for The Bowerman, track and field’s equivalent to The Heisman Trophy, Friday.

Cheserek continued to impress in his junior campaign, winning a total of six NCAA Championships between cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field.

Cheserek piled on the NCAA Championships during the indoor and outdoor seasons, bringing his total to 15, the most of any runner in NCAA history. At the indoor championships, Cheserek pulled of the 3,000-5,000-DMR triple which had only been accomplished by former Duck Galen Rupp.
