EUGENE, Ore. – Edward Cheserek was named USTFCCCA male cross country athlete of the year on Tuesday and also picked up an academic honor and an all-America award as one of 13 Ducks garnering postseason or academic recognition.
Cheserek continued his reign over collegiate cross country in 2015, winning his third NCAA Division I individual title in an unprecedented third consecutive season. The junior out of Newark, N.J., joins fellow Duck Steve Prefontaine and Washington State stars Gerry Lindgren and Henry Rono as three-time individual champions. Cheserek is the only one of the four to win three titles in a row.
