BOSTON - Fifteen-time NCAA champion Edward Cheserek broke the indoor collegiate record in the mile on Sunday at the Boston University Last Chance Meet, winning in a blazing 3:52.01.
Cheserek broke the two-year-old collegiate record of 3:52.88 set on Feb. 15, 2014, by Lawi Lalang of Arizona.

With the collegiate record and the win, Cheserek flew to the top of the 2017 NCAA list by more than three seconds, and now leads the nation in both the mile and the 5,000 meters (13:32.
