For years, it was assumed South Medford standout Chase Cota, the highest-rated wide receiver recruit in state history, would follow in his father's footsteps and commit to the Oregon Ducks.
And for just as long, the 6-foot-4, 190-pound pass-catcher insisted he was open to all his options and would make his own decision.
On Wednesday afternoon, that came to fruition, as Cota announced his commitment to the UCLA Bruins over fellow finalists Alabama, California, Georgia, Notre Dame, Oregon and USC.
"Throughout the whole process, I had an open mind," Cota said. "I was never against Oregon, but I wanted to see if there was something out there that I enjoyed more.
