Senior receiver Charles Nelson became the fifth Oregon Duck named to a preseason awards watch list Monday morning, when he was included among the players to watch for the Paul Hornung Award.
The award goes to the most versatile player in college football. Nelson, who has returned kicks, punts, caught passes, run out of the backfield and played safety in his three seasons, certainly fits the criteria.
After playing both ways in 2015, Nelson transitioned into a more traditional receiver/returner last fall and caught a career-high and team-best 52 passes for 554 yards and five touchdowns. Including four rushing attempts, he averaged 10.
