Braxton Burmeister to start for Oregon Ducks against Washington State

EUGENE -- Freshman Braxton Burmeister will start for the Oregon Ducks at quarterback against Washington State, ending a week of speculation.

Burmeister was chosen over redshirt senior Taylor Alie to start in place of Justin Herbert, who went down with a broken collarbone last week against Cal.

It will be the first start of Burmeister's career. He completed one pass for four yards against Cal after Alie left with an injury.

Burmeister was the seventh-ranked dual-threat quarterback in the country at La Jolla Country Day High School in California.
