The sophomore from La Jolla, California was one of the highest rated recruits of Willie Taggart’s lone season as a Duck, and when Justin Herbert was injured against the Golden Bears, Burmeister got the call.
Unfortunately, Burmeister was forced into the spotlight during his freshman year, and the offensive scheme never adjusted to his particular set of strengths and weaknesses. He was one-of-five as a starter, the win was against Utah at Autzen, and solidified his spot as backup QB in 2018.
Burmeister had a lot of hate thrown at him from Duck “fans” when it became clear that he was out of his depth, but let ATQ be clear, any player who puts their body on the line for a Duck team will always be a Duck and should be praised like one.
