CORVALLIS, Oregon— The Oregon offense was silenced by the buzzsaw that is the Oregon State pitching staff, as the Ducks dropped the first Civil War game of the 2017 season, losing 4-1 Tuesday at Goss Stadium.
Beavers’ starter Jordan Britton (1-0) held Oregon (25-15) to just one run on two hits in his five-and-two-thirds innings of work, striking out two and walking one in the process. Brandon Eisert was brilliant in relief for OSU (35-4), pitching hitless ball through a scoreless three-and-a-third innings, striking out six Ducks in earning his second save of the season.
On the opposite side of the ledger, a sextet of Ducks pitchers failed to shutdown the Beavers, allowing four runs on eight hits while striking out six and walking four.
