SAN FRANCISCO – University of Oregon quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. and all-purpose standout Charles Nelson were honored by the Pac-12 Conference as Offensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, for their clutch performances in the Ducks’ 61-55 triple-overtime victory at Arizona State Thursday night.
Adams, a fifth-year graduate transfer from Pasadena, Calif., enjoyed his best performance for the Ducks, leading an improbable comeback by throwing a game-tying touchdown pass to Dwayne Stanford on a fourth-down play with 12 seconds left in regulation. His next two throws also ended in touchdowns, including the eventual clincher to Bralon Addison on a perfect 20-yard teardrop in the third OT period.
