The Oregon Ducks have hired longtime Oklahoma assistant Melyssa Lombardi as softball coach, according to reports from The Oklahoman and FloSoftball.
Lombardi succeeds Mike White, who left after nine seasons to coach Texas. Lombardi had coached at Oklahoma, her alma mater, for the past 21 years.
Get to know Melyssa Lombardi:
With the Sooners, she coached four-time All-Americans Keilani Ricketts and Paige Parker and two-time All-American Jennifer Stewart. In 2017, closer Paige Lowary’s 11 saves tied her for fifth-most in NCAA single-season history.
But she also coached Oklahoma’s catchers and was no less successful in that role than with her work assisting pitchers.
