The Oregon Ducks are once again landing a highly-touted FCS transfer. This time, it's Montana State's Dakota Prukop. He is eligible to play next season.
Prukop was down to Oregon and Alabama, but elected to join the Ducks. He also had interest from Texas and Michigan. He visited both Oregon and Alabama last weekend. It's a big addition for the Ducks, who will need to replace Vernon Adams at QB.
"I was blown away how welcoming everyone at Oregon was, the players and the coaches," Prukop told Fox Sports. "It reminded me of the connections I have with a lot of my teammates at Montana State. They’re so confident in themselves, they’re just relaxed. Being around them, you can tell they’re special athletes. It made me feel like they’re just one piece away from completing the puzzle. I felt like I just fit in with them. The guys on that team, they get it. They have outstanding cast of really competitive guys and even better dudes. I developed a great rapport with Coach [Mark] Helfrich and Coach [Matt] Lubick, and they put their trust in me. They didn’t put any pressure on me. I felt like they understand what makes me tick."
Prukop completed 63 percent of his passes this season for 3,025 yards, 28 TDs and 10 picks. He also added 797 yards and 11 scores on the ground. He's a good fit for the Ducks' spread offense.
"I woke this morning and I said to myself, 'I’m going to be an Oregon Duck,'" Prukop said. "And it just felt really good."
With the addition of Prukop, the Ducks have eight QBs that will compete for the starting job next season. Redshirt freshman Travis Jonsen and current junior Jeff Lockie are the two top contenders for the starting job, but Prukop is likely the favorite now.
