Class of 2016 two-sport star Dillon Mitchell is both a 4-star athlete in basketball and in football, providing what might be viewed as a slight dilemma for the University of Oregon athletics department after the dynamic athlete committed to the Ducks.
However, Mitchell has made the decision between basketball and football easy by choosing...both.
The ESPN 4-star point guard recently tweeted that he will play both sports for the Ducks, giving Oregon a weapon both on the court and at wide receiver on the turf of Autzen Stadium.
Mitchell wasn't heavily recruited in the beginning for his football skills, but his hard work began to pay off during his junior season at White State High School in Tennessee. The dynamic athlete went from one scholarship offer to twenty in football, including programs such as Alabama, Auburn, and Ohio State.
It was a very overwhelming process. I went from having one school to having over 20. My film was 'electric,' that's what most people and all the coaches that watched it say," Mitchell said in a recent live chat. "They wondered why I wasn't ranked high, or at all. I was hurt my sophomore year and went to just two camps, so I didn't really have a chance to show my skills."
Show his skills he finally did, and now Oregon will reap the benefits in two sports.
