Four-star Alief Elsik (Texas) linebacker Dontavious Jackson has quickly become one of the top targets of Oregon Ducks head coach Mark Helfrich's 2016 recruiting class, with assistant coach Erik Chinander and defensive coordinator Don Pellum leading the charge to bring him to Eugene.
"They told me they love how I play and they like my film a lot," Jackson said, via Justin Hopkins of 247Sports. "Coach Chinander is the one who offered but I've talked to coach Pellum a few times before. He's been by the school a couple of times including last Spring. When he came by a few weeks ago he told me an offer would be coming soon."

While Jackson has already visited Baylor and TCU and also has a visit to Texas on the docket, he's not leaning towards in-state destinations as he sorts through his offers.
"I'm not biased towards any in-state or out of state schools," Jackson said. "My mom isn't either. I'm open to anyone if it's the right school."
Oregon's chances to land the four-star standout may be magnified by the presence of one of Jackson's friends on the current roster.
"I know Torrodney Prevot and we've talked about Oregon. He said the coaches are going to coach you hard but they are teaching you the right way. He said there's a lot of open depth for me at linebacker. I like the defense. I like how it plays fast and flies to the ball. I like that style of defense."
Jackson is still early in his decision-making process, and says that he's also looking for offers from the aforementioned Longhorns, along with USC and Ole Miss.
