Oregon Ducks running back Royce Freeman was spotlighted by ESPN's Recruiting Nation for their "100 days, 100 players" feature on Thursday, meant to show how top high school recruits from the past have fared on the college stage.
Here's what the folks over at Recruiting Nation had to say, via Andrew Nemec of The Oregonian:
"Freeman seemingly flew under the radar early in his high school career, playing at Imperial High east of San Diego, a few miles from the California-Mexico border. While he rushed for more than 2,000 yards as a sophomore, it was a junior season of 2,482 yards and 34 touchdowns that grabbed the attention of college programs nationally. His stock blew up in the spring of 2013, resulting in offers from many of the nation's top programs. On July 12, 2013, he committed to Oregon over UCLA, USC and Florida following an unofficial visit to Eugene, Oregon, in June. The Ducks extended a verbal offer to Freeman in April 2013, a month before USC followed suit."
"Headed to Pac-12 freshman honors as well as a likely place on various freshman All-American teams, Freeman is a good bet to hear his name called early in the 2017 or 2018 NFL draft."
