Damyean Dotson has been suspended indefinitely from the Oregon Ducks men's basketball program, along with two other Oregon players, after a forcible rape investigation involving the three was called off due to lack of evidence, the Oregonian reported on Monday.
According to Jeff Borzello of CBSSports.com, "Dominic Artis and Brandon Austin also were named in the Eugene (Ore.) Police Department report obtained by CBSSports.com/247Sports and are "not currently participating in any team activities," the announcement from the school said."
Dotson was the only one of the three which was named as a suspect by the Lane County District Attorney's office, which stated that prosecution would not be pursued despite no doubt in the office's mind that the events in question took place:
"While there is no doubt the incidents occurred, the conflicting statements and actions by the victim make this case unprovable as a criminal case," the Oregonian reports the District Attorney's office as writing in response to the end of the investigation.
The Oregonian also indicates that Artis and Dotson told law enforcement officials that the sex was consensual, and that Austin referred the police to his lawyer when contacted about the incident.
CBSSports.com provided the following summary of the full police report, which you can access here:
According to the police report, the alleged incidents happened the night of March 8. The victim said she was drinking at a party at former Oregon guard Johnathon Loyd's house, when Austin and Dotson came up to her. While at the house, the victim alleged that she was sexually assaulted twice in a bathroom. She then went with the three players and another man back to an apartment, where she was again allegedly sexually assaulted by Artis, Dotson and Austin.
