Oregon Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariota ran away with the 2014 Heisman Trophy, trailing only former Ohio State QB Troy Smith (2006) when it comes to the percentage of total points possible he accrued.
What's interesting beyond that is just how big the gap between Mariota and the other two finalists - Wisconsin RB Melvin Gordon & Alabama WR Amari Cooper - truly was:
Courtesy of the SEC Network:
Mariota finished with a staggering 2,534 points, followed by Gordon (1,250), and Cooper (1,023). Fourth-place finisher Trevone Boykin of TCU finished way behind the pack after that, picking up just 218 points.
All in all, it was a three-man race for the award with Mariota distancing the field by a wide margin.
