There’s been an incredible upset in Rio, one that may not be topped, as world No. 112 Mathews Punza upset a man more than 100 places ahead of him in the rankings.
The Zambian pinned Israel’s Golan Pollack for an ippon in a 66kg preliminary-round judo match.
Less than two minutes into it, might we add.
The video is one of those simultaneous thrill/agony scenes, as Punza strives to maintain as even a keel as possible while Pollack comes to terms with what just happened to his medal hopes.
