Two-time Olympic gold medalist Yuzuru Hanyu won his season opener at the Autumn Classic International in Oakville, Ontario on Saturday despite a shaky performance.
Hanyu scored 165.91 points, actually finishing in the second in the free skate behind South Korea’s Junhwan Cha, but his lead from Friday’s short program was enough to carry him to the victory with an overall score of 263.65 points.
Cha was second with 259.78 points. Canada’s Roman Sadovsky was third with a total score of 233.86 and 2014 Olympic team bronze medalist Jason Brown finished fourth by 0.
