Yuliya Efimova, Russia’s most decorated active swimmer, is the country’s latest star to be named in its doping scandal.
The Olympic bronze medalist and four-time World champion breaststroker has been suspended due to a second doping violation in three years, according to Russia’s swimming federation.
The federation has not confirmed reports that Efimova, 23, tested positive for meldonium, the same substance that so many Russian athletes have failed tests over this year, including Maria Sharapova.
Efimova is the 2012 Olympic 200m breaststroke bronze medalist and has won World titles in the 50m, 100m and 200m breast.
