The U.S. medal drought is over thanks to Ashley Wagner, but Yevgenia Medvedeva extended the Russian reign in women’s figure skating.
Medvedeva, 16, broke Yuna Kim‘s record free skate point total with 150.10 in Boston on Saturday night, while Wagner jumped from fourth after the short program to take silver, 8.47 points back.
Wagner leaped and screamed in the kiss-and-cry area after winning her first Worlds medal at age 24 in her sixth try.
Another Russian, Anna Pogorilaya, took bronze.
U.S. champion and short-program leader Gracie Gold fell during a flawed performance and fell to fourth place.
