Wrestler Jordan Burroughs began his quest to become only the third American to win back-to-back golds in wrestling with a fight against Guinea-Bissau’s Augusto Midana on Friday morning at the Carioca Arena.

Burroughs opened a 5-0 lead en route to an 8-2 lead at the break and an 8-3 win.
He’ll face either Russia’s Aniuar Geduev or Uzbekistan’s Bekzod Abdurakhmonov in the quarterfinals
Burroughs has dominated the 74kg weight class, winning world championships in 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2015 in addition to his gold from London.
