World downhill champion Patrick Kueng done for season

World downhill champion Patrick Kueng ended his Alpine skiing season early due to a left patellar tendon injury suffered in July, according to the Swiss ski federation.

Kueng, 31, made six World Cup starts on the damaged knee in November and December with a best finish of ninth.

Kueng joins Olympic downhill champion Matthias Mayer on the sideline for the rest of the season.

The most decorated healthy downhill racers are Norwegians Aksel Lund Svindal and Kjetil Jansrud, who combined to win the last three World Cup season titles in the discipline.
