On Monday there will be competitions in the canoe and kayak competitions, with the men’s canoe double slalom and women’s kayak single heats taking place. Germany’s tandem of Franz Anton and Jan Benzien are viewed by many as the favorites to win gold in the men’s canoe double slalom, and Jonas Kaspar and Mark Sindler of the Czech Republic should be in the mix as well. Americans Casey Eichfeld and Devin McEwan are also viewed as contenders for a medal.
In the women’s kayak single, reigning world champion Jessica Fox of Australia will look to win a gold medal after getting silver in London four years ago.
