The World Anti-Doping Agency has received digital data on drug tests run on Russian athletes at the Moscow laboratory, it announced on Friday.
WADA’s intelligence and investigations department received the “enormous backup file” in late October and is in the process of analyzing it as the organization’s leadership prepares to decide on the Russian Anti-Doping Agency’s return to compliance.
The news was first reported by the New York Times, which reported that WADA received the data from a whistleblower and not through official channels.
It comes as WADA is set to hold its foundation board meeting next week to review RUSADA’s return to compliance and as the International Olympic Committee is set to decide in early December on sanctions for Russia running a state-sponsored doping system.
