Vincent Zhou, who helped the U.S. team win silver in the team figure skating event last week, on Tuesday was cleared to return to the Olympics after testing positive for the coronavirus and spending a week in isolation.
Zhou, who finished fifth at the 2018 Olympics, missed celebrating the U.S. team’s silver medal in the team event and also was forced to withdraw from the men’s individual event. As it turns out, no one on his U.S. team received its actual silver medal anyway.
The medals ceremony for the team event was canceled after the Russian skater Kamila Valieva was found to have tested positive for a banned drug before the Olympics.
