Olympic all-around silver medalist Viktoria Komova of Russia has retired due to back problems at age 21, Russian national team coach Valentina Rodionenko said, according to R-Sport.
The report follows a social media post from Komova’s account saying she had stopped training due to back pain.
Komova, who took all-around silver behind Jordyn Wieber at the 2011 World Championships (by .33 of a point, squandering a lead going into the final rotation) and Gabby Douglas at the 2012 Olympics, has endured health problems since the London Games.
