The U.S. Olympic Committee has taken a position on how USA Gymnastics should proceed in the wake of a sexual abuse scandal, but leaders aren’t saying what it is publicly.
A day after USA TODAY Sports first reported that two USOC officials called for USA Gymnastics CEO Steve Penny to step down, USOC chairman Larry Probst said the board had reached a “consensus point of view” that it shared with USA Gymnastics chairman Paul Parilla.
“It’s not appropriate for us to tell you what that consensus point of view was until USA Gymnastics has had an opportunity to consider our input and go through their appropriate deliberations and then communicate back to us,” Probst said.
