Grant Fisher became the first American man to medal in the 5,000m and 10,000m in an Olympic Games after taking bronze in the former event on Saturday.
Fisher also took bronze in the 10,000m on Aug. 2.
It was an incredible effort from Fisher, who was eighth earlier on the final lap, per Jonathan Gault of LetsRun.com.
But Fisher stormed back to make the podium, joining gold-medal winner Jakob Ingebrigtsen of Norway and silver medalist Ronald Kwemoi of Kenya.
