Usain Bolt is still the king.
In what could be called an upset, Bolt won the World Championships 100m title by .01 over American Justin Gatlin in Beijing on Sunday.
Bolt clocked 9.79 seconds to Gatlin’s 9.80. Bolt clocked his fastest 100m time since his 2013 World title, after two years of injuries, slow times and questions over his form.
In the final, Gatlin exploded out of the blocks and into a slight lead over Bolt through 50 meters, 60 meters and perhaps even 70 meters. Gatlin, two lanes to Bolt’s right, took wobbly steps near the end of the race.
