Usain Bolt will not compete in the Jamaican Championships this weekend after originally being on the start list for the 100m.
Bolt’s name was absent from the start list as of Thursday morning, with the first round of the event scheduled for later Thursday in Kingston.
Bolt’s coach, Glen Mills, said June 13 the six-time Olympic champion would race the 100m and possibly the 200m at the meet, shortly after Bolt ran his slowest 200m final time in nine years.
Bolt does not have to compete at the Jamaican Championships to be eligible for the World Championships in Beijing, where he is still expected to attempt to defend his 100m and 200m titles in late August.
