The United States women's gymnastics team likely had four of its five members already figured out before the Olympic trials in San Jose, California, began Friday night.
The Associated Press explained (via NBC Olympics ): "Barring injury or a catastrophic drop in form, Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman and Laurie Hernandez are heading to Brazil next month."
But the first day of competition gave the 10 other gymnasts fighting for the last spot an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the team.
