Looking for their sixth Grand Prix title, the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team started the month-long FIVB World Grand Prix tournament with three straight wins.
The No. 1 seeded team, which includes five members of the 2012 Olympic silver medal-winning team, won their first match against Italy on Friday in four sets (25-27, 25-21, 25-22 and 25-23).
On Saturday, July 4th, the Americans celebrated Independence Day despite being abroad in Ankara, Turkey. First, they decked themselves out in extra patriotic outfits for their morning training session. Then they triumphed over Turkey, winning again in four sets (25-20, 17-25, 25-16 and 25-21).
