If the U.S. women perform in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro the way they did in London, there will be plenty of gold medals to flaunt.
In the 2012 Olympics in London, American women across all sports took home 29 gold medals, an achievement only two other countries accomplished with their men and women combined.
For the last decade, the U.S. women’s rowing team has been a staple of that success – and had some of the least acknowledgment. But with the 2016 Olympics in Rio less than a year away, team officials believe the world will soon take notice.
