U.S. hurdler breaks 28-year-old world record

Kendra Harrison may not have qualified for the Rio Olympics, but that did not stop her from having a memorable summer. The Tennessee-native broke a 28-year-old world record by running the 100-meter hurdles in 12.2 seconds at the London Diamond League meet.

Harrison’s initial time was recorded as 12.58 due to a clock error, so her reaction to setting the record mark was a bit delayed. When it was revealed she had beaten the previous record of 12.21, Harrison went through about 50 emotional states — ranging from complete shock to absolute joy — in a span of seconds.
