Two-time Olympic champion Ted Ligety is done for the Alpine skiing season after tearing his ACL in training on Wednesday, according to his social media.
Ligety, 31, dealt with injuries this season before tearing the ACL. After winning the season-opening giant slalom in Soelden, Austria, he “basically didn’t do anything” for three weeks to a month.
He said he couldn’t touch his knees or tuck in training due to three herniated disks in his back. Then he tore a hip labrum.
Of the U.S. Olympic Alpine skiing champions who haven’t retired, only Lindsey Vonn is actively competing.
