Shooter becomes first Independent Olympic Athlete to win a gold medal

We’ve got a first.

Kuwait native Fehaid Aldeehani couldn’t represent his country thanks to a political dispute between Kuwait and the International Olympic Committee.

That didn’t stop him from competing in the men’s double trap competition, and now he’s the first person to win a medal under the banner of Independent Olympic Athletes.

Italy’s Marco Innocenti earned silver, while Steven Scott of Great Britain earned the bronze.
