NEW YORK — Late in the first quarter of her team’s farewell game before heading to Rio, Seimone Augustus of the U.S. women’s Olympic basketball team put the ball on the floor Sunday, went to her trademark crossover and made her Australian defender look as stationary as the marquee outside Madison Square Garden.
An instant later, Augustus, angular forward and serial survivor, knifed into the lane and whipped a no-look pass to teammate Angel McCoughtry, following that with an assist to Elena Delle Donne, who buried a three-pointer.
