IAAF president Seb Coe said that doping cover-up attempts failed and called alleged extortion of athletes guilty of doping violations “abhorrent” on Saturday, after it was announced that Coe’s predecessor, Lamine Diack, was being investigated on suspicion of taking more than $1 million in bribes from Russia to cover up failed drug tests.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) said it will announce Monday the findings of a report into doping, sparked by a documentary on Russian track and field doping.
“No doping case has been covered up, and if attempts were made in relation to a limited number of cases, as has been recently revealed, they all failed,” the IAAF said in a Saturday press release.
