At 30, Olympic champion Sanya Richards-Ross continues to learn and says despite a challenging season she’s “motivated to leave my sport on top.”
The 2012 Olympic gold medalist in the women’s 400 meters is taking a break from training before she makes a run toward the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, which will be her fourth Summer Games should she make the U.S. team.
On Wednesday she was named one of BP’s seven athlete ambassadors, joining Olympic swimmer Nathan Adrian and Paralympians Tatyana McFadden, Brad Snyder, Melissa Stockwell, Lex Gillette and Matt Stutzman.
As she reflected on the season that ended at the world championships in Beijing in August, Richards-Ross was emphatic that she wasn’t pleased with the overall results.
