Already surely on the Olympic team, Sam Mikulak capped an undefeated four-year cycle in national-level all-arounds by winning the Olympic Trials in St. Louis on Saturday night.
Now, he must wait to see who joins him on the five-man Olympic team. A selection committee will choose the best handful to compete on six apparatus in Rio in a three-up, three-count format.
Mikulak, a 2012 Olympian, fell off high bar on his opening routine on the second night of Trials competition Saturday. He could afford it, having a 1.475-point lead after the first night of competition Thursday.
