With one night left before the Olympic team is named, this much is clear:
Sam Mikulak is a lock for Rio. He’s about to sweep every national all-around competition in this Olympic cycle, topping the field by 1.475 on the first night of the Olympic Trials in St. Louis on Thursday.
Chris Brooks is still very much in the running to make his first Olympic team after being an alternate in 2012. Brooks had the second-best all-around score on Thursday, just as he was behind Mikulak at the P&G Championships three weeks ago.
