INDIANAPOLIS — Sam Mikulak appears en route to not only his third straight P&G Championships all-around title but also, possibly, a record margin of victory.
The 2012 Olympian leads by 2.35 points after the first night of competition Friday, through six of 12 total routines.
The men’s competition finishes Sunday (NBC and NBC Sports Live Extra, 3-4:30 p.m. ET). The six-man team for the World Championships will be named either Sunday night or Monday.
Mikulak’s lead through his first five events matched the record U.S. Championships margin of victory under the Code of Points implemented in 2006.
